When we enter the autumn part of the 2024 TV scheduleit’s time once again for an exciting season of Dancing with the stars. The preseason received a lot of attention thanks to the contestants’ participation, and now we finally got a chance to see if Anna Delvey he was as good at Cha-Cha as she was anger the hosts of The View. I’m going to go ahead and spoil it and say it wasn’t, but other promising contenders look like they’ll be clear favorites for the Mirrorball Trophy.
Before I dive in, I should note that there were no eliminations tonight, but two couples will be out after week 2. I feel pretty confident in saying that I don’t think these three couples are on the table and that they might finish out of this competition after some impressive first dances on opening night.
Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong
actress Chandler Kinney he came to play Dancing with the stars and notify everyone with the partner Brandon Armstrong. Dancing to Chappell RoanThe hit of “Hot To Go” was already a huge needle drop to begin with, but combining it with a tango was absolutely insane. Their score of 23 was the highest score of the night, and honestly, I could see it being one of the lowest numbers they’ll get all season if they keep this energy up.
Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold
olympic Stephen Nedoroscik he was finally able to use his legs and feet activated Dancing with the starsand it did not disappoint! While he and the fellow Rylee Arnold‘s jive to queen“Don’t Stop Me Now” only tied them for the third highest score of the night, I can see the potential. Most of the grades he gave Stephen were just minor tweaks than a “Hero of the Horse of Arms“how he could easily adapt, and judging by the audience’s enthusiasm, he is among the most popular contestants this season. Being popular can go a long way on this show, especially if you already have decent ratings.
Dwight Howard and Daniella Karagach
If you had told me at the beginning of Dancing with the stars that retired NBA star Dwight Howard I would end week 1 with the second highest score of the night, I wouldn’t have believed it. And yet its sauce a Montell Jordan“This Is How We Do It” was phenomenal. I didn’t think a 6’11” guy could move as fluidly as he did, but I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised that he wowed the crowd.
Daniella Karagach previously pulled one upset win in season 30 with NBA star Iman Shumpertso maybe she had a head start on figuring out the right way to make the huge height difference between her and Howard work for her performance. From that first dance, I think it’s very possible that we could see another NBA player go home with that Mirrorball Trophy.
Here are my picks for who will ultimately win Season 33, but there’s still an entire season left for someone to step up and win it all. Look Dancing with the stars on ABC and Disney+ on Tuesdays at 8pm ET, and check out our list of other new releases are heading to Disney+ which is worth streaming after every episode.
